I’ve included my review about each plugin plus some tips on using them. So in alphabetical order, this is my review of the best Waves plugins.
My credentials, short and sweet: About 23 years in music production, 10+ years in mastering. I won’t recommend any plugins that I think other companies have done better in a similar price range (=discounted Waves prices). My goal in this post is to introduce only the plugins that stand out. Obviously I can’t test every plugin in the world, so please always do your own testing! I have tested these plugins against many similar plugins from Waves and other companies. 
I don’t recommend buying them at full price, because Waves are rotating discounts so frequently.
Waves plugins can be great value for money on discounted prices. Some pointers to keep in mind before we move forward: With such a huge catalog it can be hard to decide which are the best Waves plugins for you to invest in. There are software instruments and utilities. Waves plugins for drums, guitar, and so on. Since then they have released tons of VST/AU/AAX plugins. Which Waves compressor is the best? What about reverb or EQ? I created this blog post to review what I consider to be the must have Waves plugins. But their catalog is huge and there’s a lot of overlap. Neither my ears, nor my monitors are the best, that's just the way I hear it for the moment.What are the best Waves plugins for mastering, mixing, vocals, drums or ? I get that question a lot. I never used Duende SSL or UAD SSL, so I'd guess it's Waves. Rank 1ġ is solid but maybe lacking some lows and sound a little harsher compared to the others. Together with 2 it has the best groove and motion, everything fits well and even the highs are pleasing. It has nearly the same good lows as example 2 and it just feels right. Rank 2ģ sounds really good in every way to me. 
While I think the others have some more room to be cranked up, 2 seems to be at the limit already. If cranked up some more, the others possibly sound a little snappier, too. Rank 4Ģ sounds most dynamic and snappy, but also a little more saturated compared to the others, so I would guess it's VBC.
It seems like this plugin might have problems with difficult passages, for example drum rolls. Good Luck!!I like 4 the least, because it can't handle transients well in some parts, for example around 1:06. I have tried to match the sound, not only the settings. Ratio : 10:1 or 20:1, depending on the plugin. Release : 1 or auto, depending on the plugin. Treshold : between -6 and -12db, depending on the plugin. The settings are a little bit extreme so you can really hear the compressors working:
